Every campaign and campaign item that runs on the Taboola network must be reviewed by our content review team. If the campaign or campaign item cannot run on the network, you will see “Rejected” as the campaign or campaign item status. This means it is not compliant with our Advertising Policies. You can learn more on how to check the status of your campaign or campaign item here.
This article will review the possible reasons for campaign or campaign item rejection. You can learn more here about how to resubmit a campaign or campaign item for review after you have fixed the issue.
Campaign Rejection Reasons
Misleading Headlines/Images
This means your titles and thumbnails do not reflect what is on the corresponding landing page.
How To Fix
Make sure that all of your titles and thumbnails accurately reflect what is on the corresponding landing page. You must have appropriate support for all statements you make in your title and thumbnail about the product, service or content you have on your landing pages.
False, misleading, or deceptive claims of any kind are not allowed, even if those claims are implied rather than expressly made.
Please review your titles and thumbnails carefully to ensure there are no misleading tactics being used. Here are some other rules to keep in mind for titles and thumbnails, though this list is not exhaustive:
- No before/after photos are allowed
- No specific weight loss claims are allowed
- No specific dollar amounts are allowed
- No claims that a product can provide 20/20 vision are allowed
- No claims that a product or service can diagnose, cure, prevent, treat, or reverse and disease, condition, or illness are allowed
Misleading Landing Page
This means that there are false, misleading, or deceptive claims on your landing page. These types of claims are not allowed, even if they are implied rather than expressly made.
How To Fix
You must have appropriate support for all statements you make about the product, service or content you are promoting on your landing pages.
Please review your landing page carefully to ensure there are no misleading tactics being used. Here is a list of examples of what not to do. This is not an exhaustive list:
- Failing to properly disclose that a page is promoting a product or service (by failing to include “advertisement” at the top of page)
- Using content that might give users the impression that they’re viewing news or editorial content when the page is actually promotional in nature
- Calling the content writer a “reporter” or “journalist” or including a fake reporter name/photo
- Including the word “news” on the page, or even in the URL
- Including fake header or menu navigational buttons
- Using language like “We investigated…” or “Our research shows…” or “We tested the product and…”
- Including a city byline such as “(NEW YORK) - New York drivers recently…”
- Using fake user comments, third party reviews, or testimonials
- Using fake social media links/likes
- Including unsubstantiated claims
- Providing a false sense of urgency, including fake “countdown clocks”
- Including a time or date that doesn’t reflect the actual time or date the article was first published
Does Not Confirm With Profile
This means the campaign items are not safe enough for the current campaign safety settings. All campaigns are reviewed by our content review team and, if set live, are given a safety setting. This safety setting ensures we are showing the appropriate content based on traffic source and other factors. You can learn more about safety settings here.
How To Fix
You can create a new campaign for the campaign items that do not match the safety settings of the current campaign.
You can also reach out to your Account Manager or support@taboola.com to request a change to the campaign safety setting. Keep in mind this may restrict your campaign’s scale on the network, and we recommend setting up a new campaign instead of changing the safety setting of a current campaign.
Offensive
This means something in the title, thumbnail or landing page of your campaign item is prohibited from running on the network because it is offensive in some way.
How To Fix
Avoid content that is malicious, intends to harm or that deeply offends. Review our prohibited content guidelines and prohibited practices guidelines closely, and update the offending part of your campaign item.

How To Fix

3rd Party Content
This means that there is 3rd party content on your landing page (most likely advertisements) that is not compliant with our advertising policies. All 3rd party content on your landing page must comply with our advertising policies.
How To Fix
