For this specific type of exclusion targeting, you are able to exclude users who have previously clicked on your Taboola campaign items from your campaign targeting. Unlike excluding users who have visited a specific page or section of your site, excluding users who have clicked on your campaign items does not require any type of tag to be generated or implemented on your website or anywhere else.
You will most likely increase your number of new and unique users, since you are removing users who have already clicked on your campaign items from your targeting.
Setting Up an Exclusion Targeting Campaign for Campaign Item Clickers
An exclusion targeting campaign is the campaign that will exclude users who have previously clicked on your campaign items (from a specific campaign) from your campaign targeting.
Before setting up an exclusion targeting campaign for campaign item clickers, you must already have at least one campaign running whose campaign item clickers you’d like to exclude from your exclusion campaign targeting. Taboola will gather a list of users who have clicked on your campaign items from that campaign(s) and use that list to exclude from targeting in your exclusion targeting campaign. This list of users is called the exclusion targeting pool.
Once you are ready to set up a campaign item clicker exclusion targeting campaign, take the following steps:
- Create a new campaign, including adding the campaign items you’d like to use for your exclusion targeting campaign. This will be your exclusion targeting campaign.
- Pause the campaign.
- Reach out to your Account Manager or firstname.lastname@example.org and ask them to activate the exclusion targeting on your campaign. You will need to include the following information:
• The name and ID of your exclusion targeting campaign
• The campaign name(s) and ID(s) of your campaigns whose campaign item clickers you’d like to exclude from your exclusion campaign targeting. This will let your Account Manager or email@example.com know which users you’d like to exclude. In other words, it will let them know which exclusion targeting pool(s) you want to use.
“Mix and Match” Exclusion Targeting Pools and Campaigns
You can “mix and match” exclusion targeting campaigns and exclusion targeting pools. You are able to target as many exclusion targeting pools per campaign as you’d like, and you can use specific exclusion targeting pools in multiple campaigns.
