There are two ways of reporting on the performance of audiences across your Taboola.
- Audience Reporting Tab: This report provides a breakdown of performance from the different audiences your campaigns are already targeting. Here you will be able to report on the audience segments you are targeting from Taboola's data marketplace, custom built audiences such as search keyword and mail domain segments, pixel or CRM audiences you may be retargeting, and combined audiences.
- Audience Exploration Tab: This report illustrates performance insights from audiences across the entire Taboola Network. Note that this will only be visible if you are running broad targeted run-of-network campaigns.
How To Use The Audiences Report
To access reporting, take the following steps:
- Select a campaign using the campaign picker on the left hand side
- Go to the Audiences tab within the Campaigns view in Taboola Ads. Here you will see the performance of your campaign by audience segment.
- Select the relevant campaign for which you'd like you see the audiences.
- [Optional] in the top right corner, select the date range you want to view
- Here you will be able to see relevant performance metrics like Impressions, click-through-rate (CTR) and conversion rate (CVR), shown by audience segments and collected over the timeframe your selected. In the report you'll also see the name of the data provider of each audience segment in the Partner column
- Analyze which audiences are working best from your existing campaigns and refine as you see fit.
How To Use The Audience Exploration Report
- Select a broad targeted run-of-network campaign that isn't targeting any specific audience segments and has a spending history of at least two weeks (this ensures there is sufficient data to identify the best performing audiences)
- Navigate to the Audience Exploration tab
- Review the performance to identify the audiences that perform better against your campaign goals: Use the CVR vs Avg. column to identify audience segments recommended based on their performance against the campaign's average conversion rate. The segments with the strongest recommendations will be highlighted in green. These audiences are the most likely to yield successful results for your campaign. Not all campaigns will have recommended audience segments. If you find a blank cell in the CVR vs Avg. column for any audience segment, it means that either there's insufficient data to generate a prediction or the segment may not positively contribute to your campaign results.
- Select the better performing audiences you would like to target in the new campaign and click on Duplicate Campaign using Audiences.
- You will be directed to the Campaign Creation screen. Make any necessary changes to the rest of your campaign settings.
- Consider increasing your CPC/CPM bid if using Enhanced CPC or Fixed Bid as the bidding strategy. When applying audience targeting, your campaign delivery will be more focused on a specific audience. To maintain competitiveness in auction, it’s recommended to run these campaigns with a higher bid compared to your RON campaigns.
Targeting segment bundles helps ensure all similar audience segments across different data providers are included in your campaign.
Important Notes:
Users within the Taboola Network may belong to several audience segments. For example, a user could be categorized as 'Male', 'Business Professional', and 'Pet Owner'. As a result, clicks and actions performed by a single user may be represented across multiple segments in the Audience reports. This overlap means that the cumulative data in the report - including clicks, spend, and actions - can exceed the total numbers recorded for the entire campaign.
