Taboola works with a vast network of publishers who each have their own requirements for what type of ads they will allow to run on their pages. To help publishers control what type of content they allow, we give all ads a Content Quality rating during the content review process. Depending on your quality rating, you may see greater or lower scale across our network.
How do we define Content Quality?
Content Quality refers to how suitable a publisher finds your ad to run on their pages. The quality rating is determined by two factors:
The content of your ad - This can refer to, but isn’t limited to image quality or resolution, the subject matter of your ad, the design and content of your landing page or funnels. Ads can be classified as either:
- Suitable Content - Content that publishers generally find suitable for their sites, but some publishers may not allow.
- Preferred Content - Content that most or all publishers would find suitable to run on their pages.
How your ad is messaged - This can refer to your headlines, descriptions, landing page verbiage, and image choices. Messaging can be considered:
- Exaggerated, misleading, or sensationalized
- Straightforward, direct, or sensitive
What are our Content Quality Ratings?
Standard Quality
This is the minimum allowable quality rating for our network. Standard Quality Ads will allow you to reach only publishers who have non-exclusive quality requirements for their pages.
Standard Quality Ads are defined as:
Suitable Content that is marketed in an exaggerated, misleading, or sensationalized way.
High Quality
High Quality Ads allow you to reach publishers with non-exclusive and moderately exclusive quality requirements.
High Quality Ads can be defined in two ways:
Suitable Content that is marketed in a straightforward, direct, or sensitive way
Preferred Content that is marketed in an exaggerated, misleading, or sensationalized way
Premium Quality
Premium Quality ads will allow you to reach the entire Taboola Network including publishers with the most exclusive quality requirements.
Premium quality ads feature:
Preferred content that is marketed in a straightforward, direct, or sensitive way.
*Premium Quality Ads also cannot be from any of the following categories: Pop Culture, News & Politics, Unusual Life Experiences
